Home Energy Audit

The Path To A Higher Functioning Home

A Home Energy & Performance Assessment is our version of a home energy audit. We use a variety of scientific means to bring your home’s performance problems to light, so you can understand them and we can fix them. Sometimes, the solutions are obvious: “Hey, you need a new energy efficient water heater.” But in many instances, they aren’t nearly as clear: “Hey, your home needs air-sealing to strengthen it's envelope.” Regardless of your individual scenario, a home energy audit will tell us what needs to be done to provide you with a higher functioning home.

The Home Energy Audit Process:

Whether you have a specific problem like dust accumulation or cold floors in the winter, or you just want to make sure that your home is as safe, comfortable, and energy efficient as possible, the first step in our process is to get a sense of what you’re trying to accomplish. That way, we can implement the diagnostic methodologies that most directly speak to your situation.

Our experienced building performance technicians have conducted hundreds of home energy audits. They will conduct a number of tests designed to identify if and why your home is underperforming. At the end of this assessment phase, you can expect the following:

  • A detailed explanation of discovered issues
  • A plan of action for improving the performance of your home.
  • A cost/benefit analysis

Elm Energy Group is an entirely turnkey operation. We test, diagnose, AND carry out the prescribed construction solutions for your home. Serving as your construction manager, we oversee every aspect of the execution phase until your job is done, from gathering estimates to scheduling and directing various contractors.

After the work is done, we’ll perform our original home energy audit tests again to make sure that the performance problems we initially discovered no longer exist. There’s no better way to ensure that your job’s been done right than with the actual scientific proof provided by our test-outs.

Protect Your Investment

We recommend a home energy audit for anyone considering a common performance “fix” for their home like new energy efficient windows, spray foam insulation, or even a geothermal HVAC system. Before you make that type of financial commitment, you’d better be sure that you’re investing in the right solution. A home energy audit will help set your mind at ease.
